A two-headed Mexican baby was born at Ciudad Juarez’s Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social on Friday, January 6, 2017.
The Doctors found it hard to conclusively describe the new born as a small body with two heads or Siamese united in a single body.
The babies shared same body and same neck; which is unusual in similar but rare cases. After their birth, the video of the newborns went viral. They had tubes connected to their nostrils.
According to Central European News (CEN), authorities have not released information about the rare case, declining to confirm the sex of the twins.
It is not clear if the parents were aware of their children’s condition before delivery via pre-natal scans.
Dr. Lorenzo Soberanes , member of the Medical Committee of Ciudad Juarez comments on the much he could understand from the situation.
“The situation is that it is a genetic problem that has an origin not something that we call teratogenic agents that can be as a hereditary factor as it can also be an environmental factor such as the application of some medication in the first trimester of pregnancy.
“But unfortunately there is nothing in the national literature in Ciudad Juarez to where I understand, it is the first time presented this case and I think it should be analyzed … “
The two-headed Mexican baby reportedly died days after being born while the aggrieved mother, who remains anonymous, is said to be in good condition.
This will be the first case in Ciudad Juarez city; thus medics in the area have set out on further medical research and analysis to explain the rare medical condition.
A somewhat similar case are the Abby and Brittany Hensel conjoined twins. The twins who are clearly joined for life have survived over 2 decades while living the normal everyday life.
