Ziona Chana is the head of the world’s biggest family.
The 71-year old Indian man is the leader and founder of a Christian sect in India, Chana Pawl. The sect was formed in June 1942 and permits marrying as many wives as possible.
Ziona Chana has 39 Wives, 94 Children, 14-daughters-in-law, 26 sons-in-law and 33 grandchildren. In all the entire family totals about 181.
According to Wikipedia, of his 39 wives, 22 are below the age of 40 and they get a week to spend with him. Ziona says that he has named all his children and grandchildren and he remembers the names of every member of his family.
He considers it a privilege from God to have so many people to be entrusted into his care.
“Today I feel like God’s special child. He’s given me so many people to look after.”
“I consider myself a lucky man to be the husband of 39 women and head of the world’s largest family.”
In a groundbreaking fashion, this Indian man married 10 wives in one year. He still says it is possible for him to travel to the United States to marry more and expand his sect which has about 400 members.
“To expand my sect, I am willing to go even to the U.S. to marry.”
One of his wives, Huntharnghanki, said the entire family gets along well. The wives of Ziona claim they love him very much and claim that they harbor no rivalry in their midst. The family system according to them is based on “mutual love and respect”.
Daily Mail records that it takes 30 chickens, peel 132lb of potatoes and up to 220lb of rice for one meal in the household.
A military strategy is used to discipline and organize the children to do the chores around the house. The mansion gives the atmosphere of a boarding house.
For their accommodation, the India man wisely got his family a huge four-storey mansion with 100 rooms. The Ziona mansion in India is one of the largest in the hills of Baktwang village in Mizoram, India.
Ziona Chana was featured in Ripley’s Believe It or Not! top 11 strangest stories for the year 2011.
