Who Is HolaSoyGerman
Everyone knows him for the reason he got famous, his YouTube channels, HolaSoyGerman which is Spanish for HiI’mGerman, but his real name is German Garmendia. He was born on the 25th of April 1990 to a Chilean father and a mother the YouTuber and his brother Diego refer to as Supermom. She took on the difficult task of raising both boys after German lost his father to a car accident on Christmas Eve.
Not much is known of German Garmendia’s academic background, but he developed a strong interest in music at a young age. It took a more concrete direction when he was 13 years old and decided to form a band. The band, which was called Ancud consisted of himself and his brother.
German didn’t become famous through the band, his fame came from his YouTube exploits. What can be best described as an exceptional journey, it began at the advice of his friends in 2011 who encouraged him to post videos on the platform.
His articulation, and his insights into everyday issues while talking in a fast-paced quirky manner and combining them with comedy sketches, satirizing the topic of discussion, were well-received by users of the platform. His videos grew to become one of the most sought-after content on the platform, especially among children and young adults. This made it possible for him to attain some of the most amazing personal records in YouTube history such as being the first person to have two channels with over 10 million subscribers.
German speaks Spanish and he does his videos in his primary language. This, however, hasn’t stopped him from attracting fans and subscribers across multiple cultures and languages, mostly due to the subtitled nature of his videos in various languages.
He created his channel, HolaSoyGerman in 2011, but by the end of 2012, it was the most subscribed Spanish channel on YouTube and cracked the top 10 global rankings in early 2013. 2013 was a particularly defining period for HolaSoyGerman’s YouTube career. He gained a million subscribers a month throughout the year and finished behind YouTube Spotlight and another YouTube superstar as the channels with the most growth in 2013.
HolaSoyGerman has three channels to his name. His primary and most popular channel, HolaSoyGerman has over 34.8 million subscribers; JuegaGerman, his gaming channel, has 30.5 million subscribers while his third channel, which is mostly a backup channel, HolaSoyGerman2, has a subscriber base of 3.1 million.

He has featured in the popular YouTube annual video, YouTube Rewind that celebrates YouTubers and their accomplishments throughout the year. He has appeared in the video thrice in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
