Joan Templeman Bio
Joan Templeman was born in the year 1948 in Glasgow, Scotland. The media personality has not revealed specific details about her family. It is however known that she has six siblings and that her family owns a lucrative ship-building business. Templeman spent her formative years in Glasgow and completed her education there. She was quite independent-minded while growing up and as such, did not overly depend on her family’s wealth. She rather worked several jobs, including running an antique store, in order to maintain herself.
Prior to her marriage to Branson, Joan Templeman was married to keyboardist and rock star, Ronnie Leahy. The two were childhood sweethearts back in Glasgow and later tied the knot in 1966. They thereafter moved to London where they enjoyed a blissful married life. Even though Ronnie was a successful rock star, he had eyes only for his wife and remained faithful to their vows. The couple enjoyed a fun-filled marriage and were looking to start a family when Branson entered into the picture. Joan Templeman first met her future husband on the 7th of February 1976 in his Virgin Records studio. Branson was immediately attracted to her blonde-haired beauty and down-to-earth personality. He was also bowled over by the fact that she was bright, funny and witty. The Virgin founder immediately made his feelings known but Templeman was unimpressed. He thereafter relentlessly pursued her; often hanging out in the shop where she worked. Branson’s relentless courting paid off when Templeman agreed to spend her lunch break with him.
The couple spent the next two years dating until the entrepreneur decided to make a grand gesture. He scheduled a joint visit to the Necker Island, British Virgin Islands, which was on sale. The two toured the place during which they made plans of turning it into a home as well as a paradise for musicians. Branson was able to purchase the island a year later and the couple turned it into their home. They were together for 11 years before tying the knot in 1989. Joan Templeman has two children namely Holly and Sam Branson. Holly was born on the 21st of November 1981. She studied medicine at University College London and worked as a doctor for some time. Nowadays, Holly is an accomplished businesswoman as well as a member of Virgin’s senior management team. She is also a philanthropist and has participated in several marathons. Holly is married to long-time boyfriend, Freddie Andrewes. The couple have three kids together; Etta, Artie and Lola Snow.
Templeman’s second child is Sam Branson. He was born on the 12th of August 1985 and attended various schools such as St Edwards (Oxford), Le Cordon Bleu (London) and Musician Institute America.
