Liza Koshy and fellow YouTube personality David Dobrik had been friends long before they started dating on November 28, 2015. David Dubrik is a young YouTuber who was named Generation Z’s favorite social media personality in a survey from financial analyst firm Piper Jaffray. He also got launched into the spotlight on the video-sharing app Vine and has since turned to YouTube, where he has more than 14 million subscribers. They took their relationship public when they posted a picture of themselves with a calendar that had November 28 marked on Instagram.

Their relationship led to numerous collaborations over time, and David Dobrik even celebrated reaching 1 million subscribers by kissing her for the first time in a video.

This cuteness overload made it all more difficult for fans to accept when the two broke up in 2017 but later announced it in 2018. Koshy and Dobrik posted an emotional and raw YouTube video on June 4, 2018, revealing that Koshy had initiated the breakup six months prior, but they are still “best friends.”

In an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Koshy explained why they waited for six months before announcing the breakup. She said they wanted to have plenty of time to heal first and give themselves time to be friends without being romantically involved before they told everyone.

Since Dobrik, she is yet to start a public relationship with someone else.
