Nicole Scherzinger was the lead singer of the very successful all-girls group the Pussycat Dolls before she pulled out to pursue a solo career. The talented singer certainly has some hits to her name both as part of the group and as an individual artist. More about her journey to fame is explored below.
Nicole Scherzinger’s Bio (Age, Ethnicity)
Nicole Scherzinger was born on the 29th of June 1978 and was given the full name Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but was raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She fell in love with music early, especially with Whitney Houston and turned her entire focus towards performing.
She, therefore, went to a performing arts high school and after graduating went to Wright State University to study theatre and dance. She left school early to start her career when she got the opportunity to back-up the rock group Days of the New. In 2001, she contested in the WB television series Popstars, where she won the lead singer role in the then soon-to-be created all-girl band Eden’s Crush. The group’s first single Get Over Yourself actually merited a Billboard charts presence but the group did not manage to find further success after that particular single. The group members soon went their separate ways.
Nicole Scherzinger would get another chance to dominate as part of a group when she stepped in as the lead singer for the recast group called Pussycat Dolls. The group was successful almost immediately with their first record containing hits such as Stickwitu, Don’t Cha and Buttons. The album attained double platinum status in the United States and went on to sell more than 9 million copies worldwide.
Nicole Scherzinger continued to build her profile outside the group by performing with other big names in the industry like Timbaland an 50 Cent. The Pussycat Dolls released their second album Doll Domination in 2008. The album still did quite well though not as well as its predecessor. It contained such hits as I Hate This Part and When I Grow Up. Nicole Scherzinger left the Pussycat Dolls in 2009 after rumours of in-fighting within them started coming out.
Nicole Scherzinger did not wait before making moves as a solo artist. Her first single Jai Ho recorded for the film Slumdog Millionaire (2008) got to the number one spot in seventeen countries. In 2010, she became a contestant on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and was the eventual series winner. She was named in 2011 as the permanent replacement for Cheryl Cole for The X Factor’s American edition, which put her alongside fellow judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and L.A. Reid.
Nicole Scherzinger has a pretty strong image as a sex symbol and is considered one of the sexiest women on the planet. VH1 ranked her as the eight out of their 100 Sexiest Artists. FHM has also featured the singer on their list of 100 Sexiest Women since 2006. She posed semi-nude for a “Protect the Skin You’re In” T-shirt in July 2013. It was part of a campaign by Marc Jacobs the fashion designer to raise awareness and cash for melanoma research.
