Add that to his performances in theatre and Tom Hiddleston becomes a very likable actor to watch; on screen at the movies, or on stage for a play.

Tom Hiddleston: Bio (Age)

Tom Hiddleston was born on the 9th of February, 1981, in Westminster, London. He is the middle child in a family of three born to James Norman—a physical chemist, and Diana Patricia (née Servaes)—a former stage manager and an arts administrator. Tom’s mother is from Suffolk, and his father from Greenock, Scotland. His two sisters; Sarah (the older one) and Emma (the younger one) are a journalist in India and an actress respectively.

Tom Hiddleston was raised in Wimbledon before the family moved to a nearby village in Oxford. At the age of seven, he became a boarder at Windlesham House School. A year later, he moved to the Dragon School in Oxford. When he was 12, his parents had a divorce, and his mother had to quit her jobs so she could take care of her children. At 13, Tom moved to Eton College, also as a border. After graduation, he moved on to Pembroke College at the University of Cambridge where he earned his double first in classical studies. He went on to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in 2005.

Career

When he was in his second term at Cambridge, Tom was in a production of A Streetcar Named Desire and was spotted by talent agent Lorraine Hamilton of Hamilton Hodell. Tom started appearing on television with parts in the 2001 ITV adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby by Stephen Whittaker, the 2001 BBC/HBO co-produced Conspiracy and the 2002 BBC/HBO drama The Gathering Storm. In The Gathering Storm, he played the part of Winston Churchill’s son Randolph.

After graduating from the Royal Academy, Tom had his debut movie role as Oakley in the 2006 movie Unrelated alongside his sister Emma; who played Badge. He got leading roles in the movies The Changeling (2006) and Cymberline (2007). Cymberline saw Tom win the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Newcomer in a Play. His breakthrough role came when he was cast as Loki in the Marvel movie Thor in 2011. Tom auditioned for the part of the titular character, but in the end, the director Kenneth Branagh decided that he would be more suitable as the antagonist. The decision would prove to be a very fruitful one, as Tom Hiddleston would reprise the role of Loki in subsequent Marvel productions. The same 2011 would have him portray F. Scott Fitzgerald in the Woody Allen directed Midnight in Paris and Captain Nicholls in the Steven Spielberg directed movie War Horse. He starred alongside Rachel Weisz in The Deep Blue Sea, also in 2011.
